Catch the Fire Ministries: Bushfires revenge for legalised abortion

Posted by Claire Connelly in Religion

If the definition of karma is universal retribution for an individual’s wrong doing – then Pastor Danny Nalliah of the Catch the Fire Ministries (a branch of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God) has an unpleasant fate awaiting him.

Nalliah and some other members of the ministry have said that the Victorian bush-fires and the 201 resultant deaths, are God’s revenge for legalised abortion.

(The Victorian state government legalised abortion last year; though abortions are available throughout Australia and has been for years, compliments of the state government, up until recently it was still technically illegal).

Pastor Danny Nalliah
said “these bushfires have come as a result of the incendiary abortion laws which decimate life in the womb.”

“Yesterday (Monday 9th February 2009), the front page of the Herald Sun newspaper reported ‘The Darkest hour for Victoria’. A few months ago the news media should have reported ‘The darkest hour for the unborn’ but unfortunately the ‘Decriminalization of Abortion bill’ went through parliament and was passed, thus making many people call Victoria ‘the baby killing state of Australia,” said Nalliah.

Nalliah claimed he had a dream on the 21st of October 2008 where he foresaw the bushfires that are currently taking place in Victoria.

He shared this dream with his colleagues and followers in an email on the 22nd October.

It read: “‘STOP PRESS. URGENT PRAYER NEEDED REGARDING AUSTRALIA, ESPECIALLY THE STATE OF VICTORIA.”

The following is an excerpt from the dream which was published in the article:

In my dream I saw fire everywhere with flames burning very high and uncontrollably.

With this I woke up from my dream with the interpretation as the following words came to me in a flash from the Spirit of God.

That His conditional protection has been removed from the nation of Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of innocent children in the womb.”

He goes on to write:

The Bible is very clear, if you walk out of God’s protection and turn your back on Him, you are an open target for the devil to destroy.

Can we stop the fires?

Yes we can!

But it will take God’s children to rally together and repent and cry unto Him as in 2 Chronicles 7:14…

In our prayer and fasting campaign, we are particularly repenting for the passing of the ‘Decriminalization of Abortion Laws of Victoria’ in addition to other unrighteous, ungodly, and unjust laws and practices which have seen a holocaust of some of the most helpless members of the human race, the unborn.”

My understanding of God has always been that he is a compassionate, kind, forgiving, all knowing God.

He loves us unconditionally.

John 3:16 states that God is love.

Romans 8:38-39 reads:

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

This kind of act committed by Pastor Danny Nalliah is hateful and full of spite.

In my mind – Nalliah’s actions are reprehensible no matter what way you look at them.

If Nalliah is lying about his dream, then he is deliberately using this tragic event as an excuse to glorify his own religious beliefs; (actually he is being deliberately disrespectful whether he is lying or not).

What arrogance – that he claims to know the will of god, comparing abortion to the holocaust:

Never mind the fact that the fires still currently blazing were not random acts of God but crimes committed by lunatic pyromaniacs.

(Isaiah 55:8-9) proclaims: “for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Nalliah has no earthly right to be proclaiming God’s will on this matter.

If he isn’t lying and he did in fact have such a premonition – then wouldn’t Nalliah have a universal responsibility to alert the community?

Encourage them to evacuate?

You know – preserve the sanctity of human life?

(irony anyone?)

No?

I guess he thought an email would do the trick.

In my mind, Nalliah was happy to let hundreds of people burn just to prove a point.

This is absolutely unforgivable.
